25 Years of Noise Tour Makes its Stop in Charlotte NC

AOL messenger, Myspace top 8, and razor flip phones are all part of our memories from 25 years ago. Also part of those memories is a little rock band from Burlington, Ontario, that was just getting its start. Silverstein launched themselves in 2000 and are spending their 25th year together as a band hanging out with fans all around the world. I was lucky enough to be there for their stop in Charlotte, NC on January 19th.

The lineup for the night was a stacked one with Silverstein bringing along a few of their friends Thursday, Arm's Length, and Split Chain. It was a night of punk-rock perfection that kicked off when Split Chain stepped foot on the stage.

Split Chain

Hailing from Bristol, England this is their first US tour and the guys showed so much love and enthusiasm for what they do while they jammed out on the stage. With a mixture of 2000s punk and nu-ish vibes and unbelievable passion, the band quickly showed the crowd they were here for a good time. It was the perfect kick-off to the night and had the fans ready for what was to come.

Arm's Length

Following Split Chain, Arm's Length was able to keep the spirits high and continued to feed the audience nonstop energy. Not only were the fans ferociously singing along with the band, but the enthusiasm could be felt in every single note played. There was this natural connection between the band and the audience that fueled their set. Between their relatable lyrics, catchy melodies, and pure raw emotion there was no doubt why the crowd so cherished these guys. Even if you didn't know them when you walked into the venue, you were definitely leaving there knowing exactly who Arm's Length was.

Thursday

The band that I viewed as the outlier of the lineup was Thursday. However, within seconds of taking the stage I was shown exactly why they were here! With the other openers doing a masterful job of hyping the crowd up, Thursday was there to bring an even bigger energy to the fans. They kept the people in attendance engaged by not only playing some of their newer songs but also giving the fans the oldies that made them fall in love with the band to begin with. Geoff was not only connecting through the music, he was telling enticing stories that had the crowd roaring with passion. They drove through their set with confidence and grace showcasing just why they have the unmeasurable amount of success that they do.

Silverstein

The lights dimmed and the crowd raged with excitement for this moment. There was breathless silence as the crowd listened to Shane narrate a video montage showcasing the humble beginnings of Silverstein and the bright future that the band still has waiting for them. As soon as the band stepped on stage the crowd went feral. Crowd surfers were no strangers during their set and the love the fans show for the songs shined through when they were singing along. There wasn't a single flaw in the set as Silverstein touched on each part of their discography and showed us just why they have the dedicated fan base that they do. Luckily for you, Silverstein is just getting started on this world tour and there are so many more dates to come so make sure you grab those tickets and get yourself ready for a headbanging good time!
